Spring Revolution Daily News for 26 March 2024

The National Unity Government (NUG)

· On Sunday, Yay Guerrilla Force (Dawna Column 3) completed their basic military training Batch (1) in Mon State and all the members took part in the oath taking ceremony.

· In Geneva of Switzerland, the delegation of Committee Representing Pyitaungsu Hluttaw joined the 147th International Parliaments’ Conference and related meetings.

· On Sunday, the Ministry of Home Affairs and Immigration-NUG conducted training on Office Management Skills to the Township People’s Administration from Ayeyarwady Region.

· In Sagaing Region, the People’s Defence Forces (PDFs) attacked two junta vehicles on Monywa-Ayadaw Road. Reportedly, a military car was damaged.

· Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation-NUG announced vacancies on Monday.

· In No. (1) Military Region under Ministry of Defence-NUG, a 3-month training was provided to seven forces in Sagaing Region.

· The focal person of Pale Township People’s Administration met with a family who had run away as they had been selected to serve the military due to the junta’s conscription law. He also encouraged them and provided them with money, food items and clothes.

Revolution Activities

· In Sagaing Region, two junta policemen from Kalay, along with weapons, defected to CDF KKG.

· The US Congress approved the government budget including aid worth 121 million USD for Myanmar.

· In New Delhi, Indian Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar met with the Special Envoy of the ASEAN to Myanmar Alounkeo Kittikhoun and discussed Myanmar’s affairs.

· According to the Foreign Ministry of Thailand on Monday, the Thai Red Cross Association provided humanitarian aid to war refugees of Myanmar via the Thai-Myanmar Friendship Bridge (2) in Mae Sot.

· On the way from Pakkoku to Chin State and Yaw Area, four junta soldiers, including a captain, defected to a local PDF, along with weapons.

· In Sanchaung Township of Yangon Region, the photos of those helping with the junta’s Military Service Law were released. Reportedly, some junta administrators resigned and some others ran away.

· In Yesagyo of Magway Region, PDFs conducted simultaneous attacks on four junta stations.

· In Downtown Yangon, there was an anti-junta movement on Monday, along with a banner- ‘Against the junta’s Military Service Law’.

Ethnic Armed Organizations (EAOs)

· In Maungtaw of Rakhine State, the Arakan Army (AA) took control of Yanaungbyin Border Camp in the north of the town. They have also raised their offensive to seize Kyaing Chaung Camp and the junta army Ka-Ma-Ya (552).

· There has been heavy fighting between the junta army and the AA in Pyaungthay Village – 3 miles away from the junta’s Western Military Headquarters based in Ahm.

· In Titain of Chin State, the PDF Zoland arrested five departmental staff who had been helping with the implementation of the junta’s Military Service Law.

· In Mon of Eastern Bago Region, nearly 20,000 people from 30 local villages had to run away in March due to the attacks of the junta army, according to the Karen National Union.

· In Hpapun of Karen State, the Karen National Liberation Army Brigade (5) conducted an attack via drone on the junta’s Mawtako Camp. Reportedly, the camp was burnt down.

· In Maungtaw Township of Rakhine State, the AA seized the junta’s Yanaungmyin Camp on Saturday.

The Military Council

· In an interview with Russia Media, the junta leader Senior General Min Aung Hlaing claimed that despite the decline of Myanmar’s economy due to the mismanagement of the NLD Government since 2018, the country gained economic growth again due to his efforts.

· The junta leader Senior General Min Aung Hlaing said that except for unstable areas, the election would be held in respective parts of the country.

· According to the sources associated with Northern Military Region, Naypyitaw Military Security Unit detained the junta’s Minister of Border and Security Affairs of Kachin State with heavy local battles.

· In Ingapu Township of Ayeyarwady Region, a young person, who had been selected for military service, ran away from Kwinkaut Village. Reportedly, the junta’s local administrator has been demanding 70 lakh MMK, saying that it is to substitute for him.

· According to the military junta, importers of pet food, colouring agents, polish oil, raw material for soap and electronics have had to apply for an import license.

Summary on 26 March

· After the military coup, a large number of foreign investors have left the country. In addition, the value of Myanmar’s currency has gone down, leading to a sharp decline in the economy. It is clearly visible throughout the country. However, the junta leader Min Aung Hlaing shamelessly said that the economy had gained more growth during his administration.
