The Ministry of Defence of Myanmar’s National Unity Government (NUG) has said that People’s Defense Forces (PDF), including battalions, have joined in the resurgence of Operation 1027, which began on 25 June in Northern Shan State and Mandalay Region, and has registered military successes.

The NUG refers to this operation as a “Shan Man” operation, and its special feature is that PDFs and revolutionary forces have penetrated into the Mandalay region from northern Shan State.

This incursion involves several key groups, including the People’s Defense Force (Mandalay), Mogok Strategic Battalions (1221, 1222, 1223, and 1224), Kyaukme District’s Special Combat Forces, Pyin OO Lwin District’s PDF, Mogok Township’s PDF, and Madaya Township’s PDF, in collaboration with the Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA).

The attacks are being carried out in Kyaukme and Nawnghkio in Northern Shan State, and Madaya in Mandalay region.

Over three days from 25 to 27 June in Nawnghkio, TNLA joint forces have taken control of the city police station, various departmental facilities, and the positions held by the Light Infantry Battalion (115) and the Missile Battalion (606).

A local resident said, “The People’s Defense Force (Mandalay) is now securing Nawnghkio city.”

Furthermore, joint forces have seized several military council camps, including Nar Aike Khan, Sa Khan Thar, Nyeinchanyay Hill, No. 352 Artillery Hill, Ingyin Kaing, the golf course, the General Administration Office, and the police station in Kyaukme Township.

In Mogok Township, the combined forces have captured military camps in the western part of the city and are continuing their advance towards the eastern part.

Key military camps such as Panntlell Taung, Kyaut Kyam Taung, and Ye So Taung have been occupied by the joint forces in Madaya township.

Local sources report that the Military Council has responded with numerous airstrikes across the battle areas. Unfortunately, these airstrikes have resulted in civilian casualties, though the exact numbers are difficult to confirm due to the ongoing military conflict.
