The UK Government is showing its commitment to empowering Myanmar students through a scholarship programme for Myanmar students, according to a statement issued 26 February.

The UK Government’s Chevening Scholarships programme is funded by the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) and partner organisations.

The scholarships support one-year taught master’s degrees at UK universities for individuals with demonstrable potential to become future leaders, decision-makers, and opinion formers.

The Chevening global interview period for courses starting in September 2024 is just around the corner and to help Myanmar applicants prepare, the British Embassy Yangon is sharing weekly interview tips on its Facebook page.

For 2024/2025 academic year, Chevening will offer approximately 10-12 awards for students in Myanmar.

“We encourage applications from across Myanmar and will hold information sessions for those interested to find out more,” the statement says, suggesting interested students keep an eye on the “UK in Myanmar” Facebook page for updates.
