Spring Revolution Daily News for 28 March 2024

The National Unity Government (NUG)

· In the 148th International Parliamentory Conference, the leader of Myanmar’s delegation stated that Committee Representing Pyitaungsu Hluttaw (CRPH) and the elected MPs, in cooperation with the public, have been trying to put an end to the military junta and their violence as well as get back peace and democracy.

· Dr. Win Myat Aye, a Union Minister of the NUG, stated that Myanmar people have been in need of assistance to end the military dictatorship and to establish a peaceful community.

· The Acting President of the NUG called for focusing on gaining good outcome, rather than actions alone when reforming the nation.

· In Minhla of Bago Region, the revolution force shot at Myo Myint Aung, allegedly a local leader of Pyusawti Militia, in his house.

Revolution Activities

· On the Revolution Day on 27 March, the Canadian Embassy in Yangon stated that Myanmar’s Army has failed to protect the public.

· British Foreign Secretary David Cameron called on the ASEAN to make an effort to get back peace in Myanmar as the civil war has expanded in the country after the military coup.

· In Albany, there was a meeting between MR. Paul D Tonko, a U.S MP, and Dr. Miemie Winn Byrd. Reportedly, they discussed more focus of the US on Myanmar’s affairs including the revival of democracy.

· Via British Embassy to Myanmar, the Indo-Pacific Minister Anne-Marie Trevelyan conveyed the message that despite the performance by the military junta in Naypyitaw on the Army’s Day, the public all over the country have been in trouble due to local battles. They added that they would try to hold Myanmar’s military junta accountable for their violence.

· In Tamu of Sagaing Region, there were local battles for two consecutive days. Afterwards, the junta army and Pyusawti Militia set fire to a sealed house of a PDF member.

· In Pale Township, Monywa Township Strike Committee conducted public political talks and the showing of revolution movies in some local villages.

· In Khin-U Township, the junta army killed a PDF member and set fire to Tesu Village. Consequently, thousands of local people had to run away.

· The watchdogs stated that at the time of illegal extraction of natural resources in Myanmar after the military coup, the production of sand in Thanlwin River has also risen.

· At some crowded places in Yangon on Wednesday, the youth shared brochures calling for the revolution against the military dictatorship.

· In Yesagyo Township of Magway Region, a local guerrilla force confiscated counterfeit money worth over 10 million MMK in Yelegyun Area and burnt it.

· In Myingyan Township of Mandalay Region, the junta administrator of Ima Village was shot in his house. Reportedly, he dropped his gun and escaped.

· On behalf of Rohingya people, the Steering Committee on a United Rohingya Political Group (Temporary) was formed.

· In Hpapun District of Karen State, the family members paid respect to the martyrs from Spring Warriors Column and other members saluted them with remembrance.

Ethnic Armed Organizations (EAOs)

· The Arakan Army (AA) has been attacking the junta army unit on the way out of Ahn in Rakhine State. Reportedly, the family members of the junta soldiers ran into the Western Military Headquarters by car.

· In Buthitaung, the AA took complete control of the junta’s Ka-Ma-Ya (552) on Monday. They also took care of over 100 junta soldiers from Tamantha Police Camp in Maungtaw, who had defected to them.

· Karen National Union stated that the humanitarian crisis in Myanmar has been a man-made one due to the junta’s intentional violence against the public. They added that the military junta has always been trying to seek ways to take advantage of the humanitarian aid.

· In Kachin State, Kachin Independence Army attacked the junta armed forces on Bamaw-Lweje on Wednesday morning.

· In Hpapun under control of the KNU Brigade (5), there were casualties among the civilians due to the junta’s attacks via drone and local people had to run away.

· On Tuesday, the Head of the KNU’s Defence Department stated that it is time for the revolutionists to fight in unity.

The Military Council

· On 24 March, nearly 50 detainees from the prison in Ahn of Rakhine State were transferred to Insein Prison in Yangon.

· The junta Central Bank revoked the license of 6 money changers and suspended the ones of 4 others.

· According to the junta’s Yangon City Development Committee, the construction of the pandal for Thingyan Festival at the People’s Square and the underground reservoir have been completed by nearly 90%.

· On Tuesday morning, a training helicopter from the junta air force had an accident during a training flight.

· According to the junta Ministry of Tourism, they would upgrade Naypyitaw, the administrative capital of Myanmar, to be a tourist destination as it is easily accessed by various transportation modes.

· The junta Minister of Defence met with the Regional Coordinator of the United Nations to Myanmar Mr. Marcoluigi Corsi in Naypyitaw.

· The junta leader Min Aung Hlaing and his wife paid respects to the retired army officers and their wives, who were in Naypyitaw to attend the ceremony on Armed Forces Day.

Summary on 28 March

· No matter how grand the junta’s ceremony on the Armed Forces Day, no country would respect them as the military junta has failed to protect the people. They would view the junta army just as a low-standard armed gang.
