Spring Revolution Daily News for 1 April 2024

The National Unity Government (NUG)

· The People’s Administration Department under the Ministry of Home Affairs and Immigration-NUG stated that they would carry out projects to reduce gambling, narcotic drugs and crime in Gantgaw Township of Magway Region.

· According to the People’s Defence Force (PDF) Headquarters under the Ministry of Defence-NUG, Dawna Column under the Southern Military Region has been making an effort to gain control of No. (8) Union Road, extending from Yay Township to Tanintharyi Region, and to make the area completely free from the enemy, the military junta.

Revolution Activities

· In Monywa of Sagaing Region, two political prisoners were beaten at No. (1) Police Station. Reportedly, one of them lost his life and another one was seriously injured.

· As a 1097-day protest, a combined rally of Salingyi and Yinmabin marched against the military dictatorship.

· In Yinmabin Township, a local rally named ‘Taung Pu Thway’, in cooperation with the public and students, expressed their objection to the junta’s Military Service Law.

· In Sintku Township of Mandalay Region, the junta army fired mortars to Khat Thin Village. Consequently, four people were injured. Reportedly, a child was in critical condition.

· In Thabaitgyin Township, the PDFs arrested three people including a 100-household leader and Pyusawti leader in Chaunggyi Village; who had been working for the junta’s recruitment.

· A junta convoy was faced with mine attacks by the PDFs on the way to Chin State and Yaw Area from Pakkoku. Reportedly, no less than 80 junta soldiers died within nine days and the convoy could not move forward.

· In Usan of South Korea, a combined rally of Korean and Myanmar people conducted an anti-junta movement.

· In Pulaw Township of Tanintharyi Region, local PDF burnt a vessel which had entered the town of Pala to carry the rations and weapons for the junta army.

· In Vancouver of Canada, Artist Shelter showed a series of four documentaries related to the Spring Revolution. Reportedly, over 100 people were present and the fund worth over 4,500 USD was earned.

· In Magway Region, Yaw Defence Force has carried out 136 battles since their establishment. Reportedly, they have been able to clear out over 600 junta soldiers and Pyusawti members.

Ethnic Armed Organizations (EAOs)

· In Hpapun Township, Karen National Liberation Army and their alliance took control of two junta army camps on Saturday.

· Within the Operation led by the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) from 7 March to the morning of 31 March, they have gained control of around 60 junta camps.

· According to New Mon State Party (Against Dictatorship), they will fight until the end to protect Mon ethnic and local people as well as to be able to create their own destiny. They also believe that Mon people will be able to turn sorrow into strength and fight for the complete downfall of the military dictatorship.

The Military Council

· The junta leader Min Aung Hlaing claimed that despite being unable to spend the export income of oil and gas to China and Thailand due to the economic and trade sanctions by the western community, he managed to improve the nation’s economy.

· On Saturday morning, three junta soldiers ran away to Bangladesh due to the battles against the Arakan Army.

· The military junta announced that they would provide loans to the MSMEs in Naypyidaw, states and regions.

· On Saturday, the junta Central Bank stated that they have been conducting investigation based on the information of those monopolizing the prices of gold and dollar, and they would soon take action against them.

· In the junta propaganda media, the townspeople in Hopone peacefully expressed their desire against those conducting local battles in Hopone Township and Sisai Township.

· In Novosibirsk of Russia, the delegation led by the junta Minister of Science and Technology, together with the responsible personnel of Rosatom, went to Novosibirsk State Technical University and Nuclear Energy Information Center on Friday morning.
